Interfaith Thanks Giving program at Baitul Hadi Mosque, Old Bridge NJ

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Old Bridge, NJ held its second annual Thanks-Giving meal with Hon. Mayor Owen Henry of Old Bridge township on November 21, 2014.

Moderated by Tariq Sharif, the program started with recitation from Holy Quran by Hammad Malik. Mr Sharif gave a brief introduction of the community and cited a short synopsis of various humanitarian activities that took place in 2014. Among the highlights were multiple blood drives held throughout central Jersey, donation of food for various food pantries, free medical clinics, interfaith and community outreach meetings.
This year, the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, and the Mayor’s office worked together to recognize residents who’s volunteer efforts were outstanding. Hon. Mayor presented “Ahmadiyya Excellence in service to Humanity “ award to Lisa Giuliano for her dedicated service in managing the volunteer EMS services in Old Bridge. Kathlyn Louves of Old Bridge EMS services accepted the award on her behalf and read out her thank-you note. Dr Mir Sharif was also noted to receive the US Presidential award for volunteer services this year.

Mayor Henry addressed the audience and emphasized the need for volunteer services needed in the township to continue to run all-volunteer Fire department and EMS services and thanked all residents who volunteer their time. The Mayor was accompanied by councilman Dr. James Anderson and council vice president Mary Sohor.

Dr Mir Sharif, president of the Ahmadiyaa Muslim Community, Old Bridge gave a short concluding address thanking everyone for taking part in this great Thanks-Giving tradition and closing with a silent prayer.

Traditional Thanks-Giving meal was served for all followed by social hour. Many guests were present who met the congregation of the mosque and enjoyed the meet and greet sessions during dinner.
